Professor Searle is best known for his critique of computationalism and artificial intelligence, his theory of intentionality, and his work on the problem of consciousness. Dr. Searle has won numerous awards, including a distinguished teaching award from the University of California at Berkeley. He is also a former member of the National Council on the Humanities, where he served from 1992 to 1996. The entire East Bay and the 9th Congressional District salute Dr. John Searle and congratulate him on this remarkable honor.
