Congresswoman Barbara Lee (CA-09) issued the following statement on the ninth anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001: Today, we as a nation commemorate the ninth anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001. This anniversary is yet again a sobering moment for our country and a reminder that we must always remember those who perished in this appalling act of violence. As we observe the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, we pause to honor and remember the men, women and children whose lives were lost on this tragic and sad day in Pennsylvania, New York and Washington, DC. We continue to extend our deepest sympathies to their families, friends and loved ones, and we again salute the heroism and courage exhibited by the first responders law enforcement personnel, volunteers and others who risked their lives, and in many cases sacrificed their own lives, to help others.
