Time and time again, President Bush declared that Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program posed an imminent threat to the U.S. and its allies. The Administration used this intelligence to justify the U.S. invasion of Iraq. The American people are still owed a clear explanation of why this nation went to war, said Lee. So far, we have not received a credible justification for the war, even though more than 300 Americans have died and more than 1,200 soldiers have been wounded. Now grave questions have arisen regarding the interpretation of intelligence information presented by the Administration, and until we create an independent commission or select committee to study the Administration's WMD intelligence and its misuse, Congress should refuse to adjourn. Original sponsors for the bill will include Rep. Ellen Tauscher (D-CA) and Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA).
