Lhamon and attorney Debo P. Adegbile to six-year terms on the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights is an independent, bipartisan agency charged with advising the President and Congress on civil rights matters and issuing a federal civil rights enforcement report. The Congresswoman issued the following statement regarding the appointments: “I commend President Obama’s decision to appoint Cathernine Lhamon and Debo Adegbile to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.
