Today, Congresswoman Barbara Lee (CA-09), with the support of 21 other Members of Congress, introduced H.R. 3699, which will prohibit funding for any increase in the number of members of the United States Armed Forces in Afghanistan. History tells us that there will not be a military-first solution to the situation in Afghanistan, said Congresswoman Lee. Open-ended military intervention in Afghanistan is not in our national security interest and will only continue to give resonance to insurgent recruiters painting pictures of foreign occupation to a new generation.
