Lieu (D | Los Angeles County) issued the following statement on the United Nations Security Council’s passage of Resolution 2334: “I am deeply troubled by the United Nations Security Council’s passage of a one-sided, harmful resolution, and I am disappointed with the Administration’s decision not to exercise its veto. The United Nations should not be litigating what can only be negotiated directly between the Israelis and Palestinians. The notion that singling out one side in a conflict while giving the other an incentive not to negotiate will somehow support the peace process is laughable. “Furthermore, it is utterly shameful that the UNSC has found time to criticize Israel but not intervene to stop the mass-killing of civilians in Syria or launch an independent investigation into civilian deaths in Yemen.
