This funding was included in the recently-enacted bipartisan infrastructure package, which Rep. Lofgren voted for in November. "I supported the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to upgrade our infrastructure in Santa Clara County, in California and nationwide. I am glad these federal funds are coming in to help improve Mineta San Jose International Airport and ensure it can continue to meet the growing needs of the South Bay," said Rep. Lofgren. Thanks to the bipartisan infrastructure legislation, $25 billion in Airport Infrastructure Grants are going to airports around the country in the next five years – $1.5 billion of which is expected to go to California airports. The funding can be used for airport improvements such as runway, terminal, and noise-reduction projects. Mineta San Jose International Airport will work with the FAA to identify eligible projects This funding follows prior federal funding allocations for Mineta San Jose International Airport. In June, Lofgren announced $55.5 million in COVID-19 relief funding for the airport. In March 2021, Lofgren announced $1.6 million for the airport and its concessions thanks to the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriation Act.
