The Congressional App Challenge is an annual non-partisan competition to engage students in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM)through creation of original applications. The winning submission is an application called Wellvoyage. Swara Chokshi of Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach designed this application to educate travelers about medical information and resources when they are abroad. Wellvoyage allows users to find hospitals and health care facilities in any global destination, translate foreign languages, utilize mental wellness resources, and archive their trips, vaccines, medications, and emergency information securely in the cloud. As a naval officer who operated nuclear reactors, I know how important it is to keep Coastal Virginian students engaged and interested in STEM-related coursework and activities, said Congresswoman Luria. I was impressed with the applications, many of which aim to address critical needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. I also extend my gratitude to the judges and applicants for the time they spent to make this competition a success. I enjoyed participating in Congresswoman Luria's Congressional App Challenge, said Swara Chokshi. My application aims to assist individuals in maintaining their health and wellness before, during, and after traveling to a multitude of low-resource countries. I would like to thank Congresswoman Luria and her entire team for their support of this program in our region, which provides such an incredible platform for young developers to showcase their skills. Coming in second place was CoronAware, which Zahra Rizvi of Yorktown High School developed to keep users informed about the latest COVID-19 developments. The third-place winners were Rohan Nagabhirava and Nandan Sudunagunta, who created Online Assist to aid students participating in distanced learning during the pandemic. Congresswoman Luria has been active in showcasing the talents of students from Virginia's Second Congressional District. Earlier this year, she hosted the second annual Congressional Art Competition to give students a chance to have their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
