The grant will support students in Charleston County School District, Berkeley County School District, and Dorchester School District Four by providing long-term academic and career advising, financial aid assistance, and postsecondary planning beginning in middle school. The program is designed to serve low-income and first-generation students, helping them overcome barriers to higher education and prepare for successful careers. "Every student deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background or zip code," said Congresswoman Mace. "This grant will help nearly 1,000 Lowcountry students gain the tools, guidance, and support they need to pursue higher education, develop workforce skills, and build brighter futures. South Carolina's future starts in our classrooms, and we'll always stand behind investments giving our students the tools they need to succeed." Earlier this year, Congresswoman Mace submitted a letter of support for Trident Technical College's application, emphasizing the program's proven success in helping low-income and first-generation students prepare for college and careers through academic advising, financial aid assistance, career exploration, and postsecondary planning. The Talent Search Program is one of the federal TRIO programs designed to increase postsecondary enrollment and completion by providing students with the resources and support needed to succeed in higher education.
