Magaziner 2025-11-24 2025 2025-11 Democrat House RI Seth Magaziner M001223 magaziner.house.gov magaziner https://magaziner.house.gov/media/press-releases scraper JOHNSTON, RI — Today, U.S. Representative Seth Magaziner (RI-02) joined the Johnston Police Department and Mayor Joseph Polisena Jr. to celebrate the arrival of new equipment for the town police department, including two new Harley-Davidson police motorcycles, purchased with federal funding secured by Rep. Magaziner. “Local law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day to keep Johnston safe, and they deserve the absolute best equipment so they can do their jobs,” said Magaziner. “I am proud to have secured federal funding for these motorcycles and radios, which will help the Johnston Police Department protect and serve Rhode Islanders efficiently and effectively.” “Representative Magaziner’s support has directly strengthened the Johnston Police Department by providing the tools and technology our officers need to do their jobs safely and effectively. Fromupgraded portable radios to new motorcycles, improved backup communication systems, and enhanced training, this funding makes a real difference on the ground. We’re grateful for his commitment to our Johnston police officers and to the safety of our entire community,” said Johnston Mayor Joseph M. Polisena Jr. "This grant has allowed us to purchase state-of-the-art portable radios for our officers and two new police motorcycles. This equipment has strengthened officer safety and enhanced our ability to respond quickly and effectively. These upgrades have elevated our communication, increased our mobility, and improved our overall readiness. We are grateful to Representative Magaziner for securing this funding and for his steadfast support of the Johnston Police Department and the community we proudly serve," said Johnston Police Chief Mark Vieira. In April 2024, Rep. Magaziner announced the $485,000 of federal funding for the Johnston Police Department to purchase new portable radios and acquire the two new motorcycles. Those vehicles have now arrived and are ready for service as part of the department’s special services unit. This investment in updated equipment supports Johnston’s police officers, enhances community safety, and improves emergency preparedness. The Johnston Police Department serves almost 30,000 residents and over 850 businesses. 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T19:52:45Z
