"The Mayor rightfully indicated that this is an "unsustainable manufactured crisis" but failed to tell New Yorkers that it was singlehandedly manufactured by President Biden who unraveled policies that were in place when he took office that stemmed the flow of illegal immigration and brought order to the asylum process. Our nation simply cannot allow four million people to enter without their asylum claims first being reviewed and approved so legal work authorizations can be granted. The burden is now being placed on hardworking American taxpayers who are already struggling to make ends meet during this current economic crisis to support and provide all the basic needs for these individuals at a cost of $1 billion to New Yorkers alone. "House Republicans have offered commonsense solutions, such as the Border Security for America Act to provide Customs and Border Protection with necessary resources, staffing, and technology to defeat the cartels conducting human and drug trafficking, reinstate "Remain in Mexico" until applications are reviewed and approved and complete barrier construction. More judges should be immediately added to hear existing asylum claims and differentiate those who are legitimate seekers from those taking advantage of our nation's generosity to conduct nefarious activity and cut in front of others who've applied legally. Lastly, the mayor should also be challenging New York's "Right to Shelter" law because it's unreasonable to think it could apply to citizens of other nations, especially at these unsustainable levels.
