Mann Fights for Certainty for Agricultural Community 2024-07-23 2024 2024-07 Republican House KS Tracey Mann M000871 mann.house.gov mann https://mann.house.gov/media/press-releases scraper WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Tracey Mann (KS-01) participated in a House Agriculture Committee hearing— “Financial Conditions in Farm Country.” In his remarks, Rep. Mann highlighted the need for a five-year Farm Bill that addresses market volatility and provides certainty to the agricultural community. Rep. Mann also highlighted the importance and vitality of federal crop insurance to farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers in the Big First District of Kansas. Click here to watch Rep. Mann’s opening remarks and Q&A Rep. Mann’s Remarks as Prepared: Thank you all for being here as we underscore the need for a comprehensive, five-year Farm Bill. The title of this hearing is the Financial Conditions in Farm Country. I can tell you as the Congressman from the Big First District in Kansas where we raise a lot of wheat, a lot of sorghum, a lot of corn, a lot of beans, and a lot of cotton, the two words I would use to describe the financial conditions of the farm economy are “concerning” and “worsening.” About a year ago, Chairman Thompson and I hosted a Farm Bill listening session in the middle of a wheat field in the Big First District of Kansas. We heard from 150 Kansans about their priorities for a Farm Bill. They were clear – we need a Farm Bill that gives them certainty as they work day-in and day-out to feed, clothe, and fuel the world. We need a Farm Bill that addresses record-high inflation, risky market volatility, and extreme conditions that we are seeing on farms and ranches in Kansas and in every corner of America. We need a Farm Bill that prioritizes farm country and gets input prices back under control. We need a Farm Bill that’s long enough to provide certainty and short enough to reflect market demands. We need it now. 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-07T21:24:45Z
