Tracey Mann. “In a brazen attempt to force their unconstitutional assault weapons ban through the House, Washington Democrats waived long-standing prohibitions against considering a rule on the same day it is reported, leaving little time to review the legislation and its dire impacts on our nation. The bill would prohibit the sale of the types of firearms that 25 million Americans already own and use largely for self-defense and not for criminal activity. It would also mandate universal background checks, making even a temporary loan of a firearm a felony. This legislation is not a path toward public safety, but a misguided, partisan idea that will make our country less safe for law-abiding citizens and put innocent people at risk. The disregard for proper procedure, on top of the already overreaching legislation, is a direct threat to our rights protected by the Second Amendment. I will always fight against any effort to diminish or weaken the rights of law-abiding Americans to own, carry, and use firearms.” Representative Mann is the representative in Congress for the First Congressional District of Kansas.
