Marchant issued the following statement after the conclusion of the meeting: In a meeting today at the U.S. Capitol, I was personally told by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers that work to fortify the Lewisville Dam will begin as soon as January 4, 2016. The people of North Texas are very concerned by reports of structural vulnerabilities in the Dam and the disastrous consequences that could result from its failure. Moving forward, I call on the Corps of Engineers to be completely open with the people of North Texas about the extent of the Dams structural deficiencies and the progress of repair efforts.
