The Thanksgiving Day meal was open to all Soldiers and civilians The meal included both roasted and smoked turkey, steamship round, glazed ham, and shrimp scampi. Also on the menu were traditional sides like green bean casserole, candied sweet potatoes, roasted butternut squash, mashed potatoes, roasted glazed carrots, roasted Brussel sprouts with bacon, corn on the cob, classic dressing, and gravy. Desserts included bread pudding, apple crisp, peach cobbler and assorted pies, cakes and cookies. Soldiers aren't always able to go home to their families, so they're able to come here and get that, that home-feeling or that home-vibe of the home-cooked meal, the meal that so much love is put into. Every day of the year we should be thankful for those who serve our country, but this is a special opportunity to make sure that those who serve here at Fort Riley know that Kansans care about them.
