The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) was created as temporary resource for those most in need. Today's rule ensures that the resources remain in place for families,children and the elderlythat have fallen on hard times and truly need the help. People are at their best when they have a job and a purpose. The role of the federal government should be to aid those who need it most and empower individuals to achieve the American dream. This rule ensures that adults receive training and the job placement assistance they need to re-enter the workforce,said Dr. Marshall.While in Congress, I have worked to support various domestic and global nutrition programs including the school lunch program, Meals on Wheels, McGovern-Dole Food for Education Program, and community-based summer meal programs. These programs and more remain in place and available to help families and children in need. I applaud the work Secretary Perdue and the USDA has done to prioritize federal resources, maintain program integrity, and hold states accountable.
