A total of eight students from the First Congressional District participated in the final interview process, and all eight earned nominations for at least one service academy. It's a privilege and honor to nominate these young men and women to our nation's esteemed military service academies, Rep. Roger Marshall said. Their dedication and commitment to leadership, service, and duty is inspiring and represents the best of the next generation. Below are the students who received nominations from Congressman Marshall's the office: U.S. Air Force Academy 1. Kyle Kramer (Manhattan) Kyle is the son of Kimberly Kramer and currently attends Manhattan High School U.S. Naval Academy 1. Rudolph Rodriguez (Salina) Rudolph is the son of Matt and Kristy Rodriguez and currently attends the U.S. Naval Academy Preparatory School 2. Storm Slupianek (Marysville) Storm is the son of Jake and Shelly Slupianek and currently attends Marysville High School U.S. Military Academy 1. Talbert Deming (Fort Riley) Talbert is the son of Troy and Christina Deming and currently attends the U.S. Military Academy Preparatory School 2. Aaron Hoff (Manhattan) Aaron is the son of Shannon Creagh and currenting attends Manhattan High School 3. Jessica Kelling (McPherson) Jessica is the daughter of Brian and Nadine Kelling and currently attends McPherson High School 4. Storm Slupianek (Marysville) Storm is the son of Jake and Shelly Slupianek and currently attends Marysville High School U.S. Merchant Marine Academy 1. Lane Johnson-Martinez (Marysville) Lane is the son of Michelle Johnson and currently attends Marysville High School To be nominated, applicants must meet the recommendations and standards set by each academy, complete online applications and interview with at least one Member of Congress or Senate. All applicants were interviewed by the following panelists: Buzz Bruzina, Junction City; Tyler Mason, Salina; Jean Clifford, Garden City; and Seth Kastle, Ed D., Wakeeney. Nominations were submitted to the academies for final consideration. Students will learn if they receive an appointment from one or more of the academies in early 2020.
