During the sign up period, farmers and ranchers will have an opportunity to enroll acres in either the CRP general sign up or the Grasslands sign up through their local Farm Services Agency (FSA) offices. The 2021 sign up will allow landowners to enroll acres in the program for the first time, and will utilize a competitive process to ensure the appropriate acres are included in the program. The 2018 Farm Bill included new flexibilities in CRP grazing requirements during drought conditions, which U.S. Congressman Roger Marshall, M.D. was instrumental in advocating for following input and comments from Kansas landowners. I am proud of the work we did to both improve the strengthen the CRP program as part of the 2018 Farm Bill,said Rep. Marshall.Conservation is an important part of Kansas agriculture and by allowing land owners to set aside ground to both help reduce erosion and run-off as well as provide habitat for a wide variety of wildlife we can help both the wildlife and the environment. That's a win-win in my book. The CRP program will mark its 35thanniversary in December and to date the program has prevented more than 9 billion tons of soil from eroding, reduced run off by 95 percent and created more than three million acres of restored wetlands, protected streams, grasslands and wildlife. The enrollment period for the general CRP sign up are Jan. 4, 20201, to Feb. 12, 2021.
