Congresswoman Mary Miller (IL-15) along with 130 Republicans in the House voted NO on H.R. 550 The Immunization Infrastructure Modernization Act. Specifically, this bill would provide $400 million in taxpayer dollars to fund immunization system data modernization and expansion. These systems can allow providers to keep vaccines and supplies in stock, prevent over – or under – vaccination, remind patients when they are due for a recommended vaccine, and identify areas with low vaccination rates to ensure equitable distribution of vaccines. "I don’t believe the federal government has the authority to become your doctor," Miller said. "I voted against this legislation because it is a permanent expansion of the federal government into healthcare. The funding authorized under this bill could – and probably will – be sent to states that have some form of vaccine mandate, and there is nothing in the bill preventing this money from being used to enforce vaccine mandates in blue states." The bill was sponsored by Democrat Rep.
