The measure H. Res. 271expresses the sense of the House that the Justice Department should reverse its decision to support a Texas judge's ruling that the Affordable Care Act is unconstitutional. The court decision was stayed pending appeal, so there is no immediate effect. Utahns consistently tell me that access to and affordability of health care is a top concernfor individuals, families and small businesses. They worry about whether they will be able to see a doctor, manage an existing condition or afford their medicine. The Affordable Care Act was not a perfect bill, but at a time when the administration and others are threatening to eliminate it, with no replacement plan, I support actions to strengthen Utahns' access to health care. That includes steps to stabilize the individual health care market place, where 195,000 Utahns have purchased health insurance coverage and to oppose policies that do not protect pre-existing conditions, said McAdams. He also noted that Utah is just this week beginning to expand Medicaid enrollment and that it would be unfair and wrong to take that option away from vulnerable Utahns after they have waited so long for it. McAdams says he looks forward to working in a bipartisan manner to fix the flaws in the Affordable Care Act and strengthen universal coverage. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
