https://mcadams.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=240 McAdams calls on House Budget Committee to produce a budget 2020-03-05 2020 2020-03 Democrat House UT Ben McAdams M001209 mcadams.house.gov     legacy Washington, D.C.Congressman Ben McAdams and Congressman Ed Case (D-HI) led a letter to the House Budget Committee calling on the committee to produce an annual budget as a necessary first step towards reducing the federal deficit. McAdams and Case are co-chairs of the Blue Dog Task Force on Fiscal Responsibility & Government Reform. All members of the Blue Dog Coalition leadership, along with 10 other Blue Dog members, signed the letter. It is fiscally reckless for Congress to ignore the opportunity to reduce our skyrocketing budget deficitprojected to be $1 trillion this year, said McAdams. Both parties are responsible for the deep hole we've dug for ourselves and it's unacceptable to stay on this dangerous fiscal path. The letter notes that the budget provides an important framework for Congress to review the nation's fiscal state and lays out the necessary, tough decisions to put us on the path toward a balanced budget which investing in our future. Further, it states that Congress has not passed a broadly bipartisan budget resolution since the 1990s, when our nation was on the path to producing a budget surplus. We're not saying it will be easy, but it won't happen at all unless and until we have the bipartisan discussions that could provide important mechanisms to ensure fiscal discipline, said McAdams. The Blue Dog Coalition is comprised of fiscally responsible Democrats who are leading the way to find commonsense solutions.
