McAdams said the four-bill minibus spending legislation (H.R. 7608) would increase funding for nearly all covered programs compared with last year's fiscal spending levels. At a time when we are hitting all-time record monthly deficits, we have to look for ways to tighten our belt, said McAdams. Emergency spending to provide relief for the COVID-19 public health and economic crisis is important and more may soon be needed. Faced with that, just like every Utah family does during a crisis, we must find ways to economize where we can. McAdams says the measure also includes numerous unrelated policy riders and raises spending by $48 billion over last year's adopted spending caps, which McAdams opposed last year for adding nearly $2 trillion to the national debt over the next 10 years.
