Millions of Americans are out of work and communities in Utah and throughout the nation are still grappling with the health and economic consequences of the pandemic. We must act now, said Congressman McAdams. It is unacceptable that hard-working families are forced to wait for support because partisan bickering has stalled the crucial negotiations needed to get a COVID-19 relief package across the finish line. The letter, signed by 18 Republicans and Democrats, says, During times of national emergencies, the American people look to elected officials to set aside their differences and take action through a sense of shared purpose and direction. The time for excuses has passed: Congress must work together and find compromise to jumpstart this process. We urge you to continue negotiations as soon as possible. McAdams says a bill to address the public health crisis and aid economic recovery is critical, and any action must be bipartisan and focused on COVID-19 response. Partisan wish lists will not result in meaningful support for Utahns who need COVID-19 relief and should not be added to a relief package. All sides must come together on a bill that can pass in both the House and Senate and be signed by the President. The letter is available here. | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
