It is fitting that this week following Veterans Day, when we commemorate the service and sacrifice of our veterans, we also address issues of health, employment, education, credit, and battlefield memorials that are important to them and to their families, said McAdams. As a nation, we are in their debt and we owe it to them to deliver the benefits and support they have earned. McAdams supported nearly a dozen bills voted on Tuesday including: H.R. 4360 VA Overpayments and Credit reports. This measure requires the Department of Veterans Affairs to tell credit reporting companies to remove erroneous information from the credit reports of veterans who received an overpayment of benefits from the department. Congressman McAdams passed a related amendment to the VA spending measure earlier this year that ensures the VA is following consumer protections requirements for veterans who face adverse credit report information following inappropriate or delayed payment information related to the VA's community care programs. H.R.4625 Veterans Educational Programs. This measure would bar colleges from receiving GI Bill educational assistance payments on behalf of student veterans if they misrepresent their costs and job placement rates or are at risk of losing accreditation. The legislation would also allow military personnel who have served for a required period to transfer some of their VA educational benefits to their spouses and children. H.R. 4771, Remote Hearings for Veterans. This measure would allow veterans with pending cases to appear remotely before the Board of Veterans' Appeals (headquartered in Washington D.C.) rather than in person. H.R. 3224, Female Vets' Health & Harassment. This measure requires the VA to establish policies to report and respond to harassment and sexual assault at its facilities, expands services for veterans who experience intimate partner violence or military sexual trauma, and extends and expands VA assistance for veterans with newborns. Other bills that passed the House would permit battlefield cross memorials in any national cemetery and a requirement that the VA provide Congress with a plan to address problems identified by the Government Accountability Office related to acquisition management and health care. | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
