McAdams has been urging that it receive a vote since August conversations with Vice President Pence in Utah. McAdams said he's glad that negotiations have resulted in stronger enforcement provisions while keeping to his preferred timeline of completion this year. I've spent months urging leaders on both sides to come to an agreement, which will strengthen Utah's economy and create more Utah jobs. Today's announcement is an important and long overdue step to modernize the 1994 agreement known as NAFTA.USMCA represents progress - for farmers and ranchers, for auto workers, medical equipment manufacturers, and others. Getting it across the finish line is a top legislative priority for me, said McAdams. McAdams said that North American trade is a multi-trillion -dollar economic relationship between the U.S. and its two neighbors. It supports millions of American jobs in Utah alone, trade with Mexico and Canada supports over 120,000 jobsjobs that pay the rent, provide health care, send kids to college and help Utahns save for retirement. Over $418 million dollars' worth of agricultural exports are sent from Utah to its North American neighbors each year. We were elected to move forward on priorities that matter to people's everyday lives. Nothing is more fundamental than for businesses, and employees, and communities to have stability on the economic front. Open and fair trade is a win for Utah and for America, said McAdams.
