Lucy McBath (GA-06) is highlighting historic investments in infrastructure to provide clean drinking water and help protect Georgia and the nation from the impacts of climate change, the dangers of cyberattacks, and damage from extreme weather events. “Across our country, Americans are in need of clean drinking water, resilient infrastructure, and the peace of mind that our economy is safe from cyberattacks” said McBath. “With these tools from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, we can reinforce and secure the vital resources necessary for everyday life. These investments will set us on a path of sustainability that will benefit Georgians for generations to come.” Georgia can expect to receive $46 million over five years to protect against floods, wildfires, and cyberattacks as well as a $3.5 billion national investment in weatherization thanks to the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. This investment will work to keep energy costs low and keep Georgians safe both physically and digitally. Up to 10 million American households and 400,000 schools and childcare centers lack access to safe drinking water. Under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, Georgia will expect to receive $913 million to improve its water infrastructure. This will ensure that communities in need have lead pipe drinking water systems replaced and secure full access to safe drinking water.
