Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) sent a letter to Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson after reporting from The Detroit News indicates a breach in Michigan’s election integrity. The letter requests answers from Secretary Benson on the incident and what operational changes the Secretary will undertake prior to the certification of election results. “Only U.S. citizens should vote in U.S. elections. The procedural failures that enabled a non-citizen to vote in our election must be investigated immediately,” said McClain. “With the election under a week away, I expect quick and full cooperation from the Michigan Secretary of State’s office and demand assurance that this illegal ballot will not be counted in the final results.
