Lisa McClain (R-Mich.), a member of the House Armed Services Committee, voted to pass the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2025. The annual legislation determines funding levels and priorities for our nation’s military and national defense programs. “With conflict raging around the globe, we must focus on producing the most lethal fighting force in the world, not woke ideologies that divide and distract our armed forces from their core mission,” said McClain. “This year’s NDAA makes strategic investments so our nation is ready to defend itself against threats from our adversaries, all while making improvements for servicemembers and their families who make enormous sacrifices for our freedom each day. The defense of our nation and the security of the American people is our highest priority.” The FY25 NDAA: Provides junior enlisted servicemembers with a 14.5% pay raise. Enables National Guard troops to support Border Patrol activities at the southern border. Eliminates woke DEI initiatives and bans gender-reassignment treatment for children. Bolsters defense initiatives in the Indo-Pacific to counter Chinese Aggression. Saves taxpayers $31 billion by slashing inefficient programs, obsolete weapons, and bloated bureaucracy. The NDAA also provides funding for key projects in Michigan’s 9th District: Kratos – U.S. Replacement of Engines in Aerial Targets. JVIS – Creation of Advanced Technologies for Next-Generation Combat Vehicles. GM Defense – Procurement of Infantry Squad Vehicles for the U.S. Army. General Dynamics – Stryker Combat Vehicle Improvement Program. Honeywell – Development of Next-Generation Engine for Abrams Tank. BAE Systems – Procurement of Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle. Riccardo Defense – Production of Combat Vehicle Safety Kit. Michigan State University – Development of Autonomous Infantry/Ground Vehicles.
