The legislation now heads to the Senate for further consideration. “When you turn on the tap, you expect clean, safe drinking water to come out,” Chairwoman McClain said. “But as many families in Michigan know, aging infrastructure means we can’t take that for granted. This $50 million authorization will help communities upgrade the water systems families and businesses rely on every single day. The legislation comes after a May 2026 water main break left families and businesses in Lake Orion and surrounding communities without running water for days.
