Congresswoman McCollum voted in favor of the measure. Following passage of the bill that would compel the Department of Justice to release all unclassified DOJ documents pertaining to Jeffrey Epstein, Congresswoman Betty McCollum (D, MN-04) released the following statement: “In America, all of us are subject to the same laws. We cannot have one set of laws for the rich and powerful and another set of laws for everyone else. Those who were engaged in Jeffrey Epstein’s disgusting crimes and efforts to cover them up must be held accountable for their actions. “To be clear, President Trump has the power to make the documents surrounding this case public today. It’s appalling that Trump and Speaker Johnson worked to delay a vote to release the Epstein Files for over eight months. The Trump Department of Justice has completely ignored a Congressional subpoena compelling the release of the Epstein Files, which was issued earlier this year by the House Oversight Committee. Now, Trump has reversed his position. If he means what he says now, then he should direct the Department of Justice to release the files immediately.
