McEachin Launches Fourth District's First Digital Year in Review 2020-12-16 2020 2020-12 Democrat Senate VA A. McEachin M001200 mceachin.house.gov     legacy RICHMOND, VA Congressman A. Donald McEachin (VA-04) today announced the release of the Fourth Congressional District's first digital Year in Review. The 2020 Year in Review highlights key priorities, programs and initiatives of the McEachin Congressional office on behalf of Virginians this year. The unrelenting challenges of this year have been felt by people across our nation. I am proud of the work my team has accomplished to improve the lives of folks in Virginia's Fourth Congressional District, said Congressman McEachin. Throughout the year I have worked with my colleagues to bring COVID-19 relief to the American people, to address police brutality, to protect our healthcare system from partisan attacks, to improve our education system and to protect our environment for generations to come. The digital report recaps the office's efforts in an interactive webpage to provide constituents with an overview of casework and legislative accomplishments alongside stories from constituents reflecting the impact of the office's work for Virginians. Key accomplishments as highlighted in the Fourth District Year in Review include: $2 million in earned benefits recovered for Fourth District constituents, including funds recovered from missing Social Security benefits, delayed tax refunds, and incorrect Veterans benefits; More than 1,000 resolved constituent issues with federal agencies, such as scheduling appointments for disability payment application reviews or helping folks get their Medicare benefits; More than 150,000constituents reached by Congressman McEachin's telephone town halls and direct mail programs; House and Senate passage of H.R. 3847, legislation to rename a post office in Hopewell after Civil Rights leader Reverend Curtis West Harris; Introduction of numerous pieces of legislation to support, uplift, and improve the lives of people of the Fourth District, including the Great Dismal Swamp National Heritage Area Act, the Protecting our Students in Schools Act of 2020, the Lead-Safe Housing for Kids Act of 2020, the Environmental Justice for All Act; and Nearly 3.31 billion in COVID-19 relief delivered to the Commonwealth of Virginia I am proud of the work we have accomplished and committed to doing the work that still stands before us, Congressman McEachin continued. Virginians need additional COVID-19 relief - including direct relief payments. We must vote to fund the government and prepare to keep fighting for constituents in the 117th Congress. I am hopeful that this Year in Review webpage will inform constituents of the ways in which my team and I have been fighting for them this year and demonstrate our dedication to continuing to serve the people of Virginia. It is an honor to serve as your representative in Congress, and I thank my constituents for the everyday opportunities to help make their lives a little easier.
