(February 10, 2026) – Today, Congressman McGarvey (KY-03) announced that he secured $12,354,000 in this year’s government funding haul for 15 local community funding projects. “It’s always an honor to serve Louisville in Congress, but I’m especially proud when we can bring federal funding back home to invest straight into our community,” said Rep. Morgan McGarvey. “I’m grateful to our local partners for meeting our community’s needs with bold solutions, and I look forward to seeing these dollars put to work back at home.” FY26 Community Funding Projects: $2.7 million to fund local construction projects and repair transportation infrastructure, including: More than $3.1 million to upgrade outdated water lines and stormwater and sewer infrastructure, including: $1,000,000 for neighborhood drainage improvements to address severe flooding and stress to aging stormwater infrastructure from the increased frequency of extreme storms, $1,092,000 to address persistent sewer odor issues in West Louisville by upgrading hundreds of catch basins in Louisville’s Russell neighborhood, and $1,092,000 to identify and replace approximately 1,700 lead service lines at no cost to homeowners. $2 million to invest in local schools and educational programs, including: $300,000 for the Boys and Girls Club of Kentuckiana’s Ultimate Afterschool Exploration Program, a summer program where more than 4,000 students explore robotics, drone operation, 3D printing, and careers in STEM, $850,000 for construction of Simmons College of Kentucky’s new Westover Campus, including a state-of-the-art STEAM education hub, and $850,000 to replace Jefferson Community and Technical College’s downtown campus parking lot with a modern, mixed-use facility that improves accessibility for commuting students and supports downtown business development. More than $4.4 million to build more affordable housing and homeless shelters and support vulnerable communities, including: $1,500,000 to demolish derelict West End properties and clear the way to build affordable housing units through the Vacant to Vibrant Program, $1,000,000 to create a shelter dedicated to serving homeless young adults ages 18 to 24 with targeted interventions for their specific needs, such as mental health support, educational programs, and job training, $1,000,000 to transform St. Mary’s Church into a facility dedicated to serving homeless women and children in Louisville, and $970,000 to support recovery and reduce recidivism in Jefferson County’s drug, mental health, and veterans treatment courts by hiring a dedicated, permanent case manager, a licensed clinical social worker, and a treatment court liaison.
