(R-WV) issued the following statement about his vote opposing a two year budget agreement and debt ceiling increase: In 2011, I came to Congress with a pledge to reduce out-of-control spending and stop adding to the unsustainable debt we are passing on to our children and grandchildren. We have made some incremental progress on this front, but we still have a lot of work to do. The budget deal we were presented with would undo this work by increasing spending immediately without making the fundamental changes we need to bring our financial house in order. That's why I opposed it. I will continue to fight for smaller, more efficient government, work to reduce waste, and oppose the President's plans to mortgage our future for the sake of bigger government. f t # e 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
