David B. McKinley, P.E. (R-W.Va.) addressed thousands of coal miners and their allies attending the Rally for American Energy Jobs on the west lawn of the U.S. Capitol. For the past five years the Obama Administration has been pursuing an ideologically-driven mission to stop burning fossil fuels in America, said Rep. McKinley. Entire communities are on edge and the EPA's policies are threatening hundreds of thousands of jobs. While the rest of the world is investing in coal, building new coal-fired power plants and increasing their consumption of coal, the Obama Administration is gambling with our economy and risking America's future, added McKinley. This war on coal has become a manifestation of Chicago-style politics where they bully their opponents into submission, said McKinley. But this type of tactic won't work in rural America where we still believe in fairness, hard work and the American dream. Thousands of miners, energy workers and supporters attended the event, which took place on the west side of the U.S. Capitol and featured speeches of more than 40 industry leaders, Members of Congress and state officials.
