David B. McKinley, P.E. conducted a health care conference call with a dozen constituents from across the First District who have experienced various problems surrounding the implementation of Obamacare. Our office has heard from thousands of constituents who have been negatively impacted by Obamacare, said Rep. McKinley. As a result, we wanted to talk directly with those that were affected and listen to their stories in the hopes of finding ways to address the problems. You could hear the frustrations of people as each had a unique story about the impact Obamacare had in their own lives, added McKinley. Whether it was being forced off their health insurance plan to watching their premiums skyrocket, their concerns were real and represent thousands of West Virginians just like them. Since the inception of Obamacare in October, a number of problems began to surface: The healthcare.gov website was not operational; Some health premiums increased to as much as 400 percent; 4.2 million Americans lost their insurance; For every one American who selected a plan in the Obamacare exchanges in October, nearly 40 lost their insurance. Last week, the House overwhelmingly passed the bipartisan Keep Your Health Plan Act to allow individuals to keep their own health plan, added McKinley.
