David B. McKinley, P.E. continued to urge the Senate to come to the table and compromise with the Republican leadership after the House passed legislation early Sunday morning to keep the government from shutting down and delay the unworkable, unaffordable health care law known as Obamacare. The House has passed a common sense measure to keep the government open, delay Obamacare for a year, and repeal the job-killing medical device tax, but Harry Reid and his allies appear ready to shut the government down to protect the health care law, said McKinley. With the number of delays, waivers, glitches, and other problems that have already occurred, it's obvious Obamacare is not ready, said McKinley. Delaying implementation is just common sense. Even Senator Joe Manchin supports a delay and said There's no way I could not vote for it. It's very reasonable and sensible.' Just months ago, 79 Senators including 31 Democrats voted in favor of repealing the medical device tax. What has changed since then? asked McKinley. Is the Senate truly prepared to shut down the government to protect a tax on pacemakers? Shutting down the government is not in the best interest of our economy, said Rep. McKinley. Yet, President Obama and Harry Reid aren't listening to reason and instead are digging in their heels. Rather than working to find a solution, the Senate took the weekend off and told the House to take it or leave it. It is time for the Senate to listen to the American people and act to keep the government open and delay the health care law which is simply not ready, said McKinley.
