Res. 24. | 2015-12-03 | 2015 | 2015-12 | Democrat | House | TX | Beto O'Rourke | O000170 | medium.com | legacy | Vote Explanation for S.J. Res. 23 and S.J. Res.24. 12/3/2015 Tuesday the House of Representatives voted on two environmental bills, S.J. Res. 23 and S.J. Res. 24. These bills roll back protections in the Clean Air Act (which since 1970 has reduced air pollution by more than 70%) and stop reductions in carbon pollution from new and existing power plants. In other words, a vote for this bill means a vote for more arsenic, lead, mercury and greenhouse gassesjeopardizing public safety and health. Supporters of the bill say regulations like the Clean Air Act are hurting the economy and jobs. I believe that its a false choice. You can have both a healthy environment and a healthy economy. Since the introduction of the Clean Air Act, Americas economy has tripled in size. I voted against this legislation. The bill passed the House, and the President indicated that he would veto the legislation. | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
