"Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, service and volunteer organizations in Maryland have stepped up to meet the need of our hardest hit communities," the lawmakers said. "These organizations have been a helping hand, and this robust funding will strengthen their work and provide them greater flexibility and resources. Today's award is excellent news for state and national grantees in Maryland and for the many in our state who have benefitted from their tireless service." Passed into law with the support of Sarbanes and Mfume earlier this year, the American Rescue Plan included $1 billion for AmeriCorps and many of its programs. This funding has allowed the agency to make significant, targeted investments to respond to the public health, education, and economic crisis caused by the pandemic. Grantees include: $4,085,997 to Maryland Governor's Office on Service and Volunteerism $484,956 to Notre Dame Mission Volunteers Programs, Inc. $388,910 to Department of Natural Resources – Maryland Conservation Corps $206,775 to Civic Works, Incorporated $107,700 to The Literacy Lab $75,100 to Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake $64,753 to Maryland Institute College of Art $37,000 to International Rescue Committee - Baltimore 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:24:51Z
