The legislation includes the Synthetic Trafficking and Overdose Prevention (STOP) Act of 2018, introduced by Congressman Mike Bishop (MI-08). Opioids do not discriminate and this bipartisan, bicameral legislation takes great strides towards ending this epidemic once and for all. Included in the legislation is the STOP Act, a bill I've been working on to close a loophole in the U.S. Postal Service currently being exploited by drug traffickers who ship synthetic opioids into our communities. While interdiction and prevention are key parts of addressing this crisis, H.R. 6 also provides resources to law enforcement, supports health care providers, and assists patients fighting addiction, said Rep. Bishop. I would also like to extend my gratitude to the parents, educators, law enforcement, emergency responders, health care professionals, and those suffering from addition across Michigan's Eighth District who have shared their stories and have worked closely with me to ensure we get this legislation signed into law their advocacy has made a real difference.
