The letter praises the Administration for ensuring continued funding for the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program, which serves more than 6.7 million participants nationwide, including over 62,000 Iowa women and children who rely on the program each month. “The Administration’s leadership is making sure that low-income mothers and children are not punished because of Chuck Schumer and the Democrats’ gridlock,” said Miller-Meeks. “Iowa Families who depend on WIC should never have to worry about whether they can afford formula, food, or diapers because Democrats decided healthcare for illegal immigrants was more important.” The letter notes that while Senate Democrats have repeatedly voted against a clean, bipartisan continuing resolution that would have kept the government open, the Administration has taken steps to safeguard critical nutrition programs using available funding sources. “Families should not bear the consequences of inaction in Washington,” Miller-Meeks continued. “As a mother and physician, I know how vital early nutrition is for children’s health and development.
