We also have a moral obligation to help Afghans who assisted American operations during our twenty years there,” said Miller-Meeks. “Given the events over the last few days, I am introducing the Ensuring Evacuation from Afghanistan Act to prevent taxpayer dollars from going to Afghanistan until President Biden certifies that all Americans and our partners are safely out. Background: The Ensuring Evacuation from Afghanistan Act would: Prevent federal funds from being made available to the Government of Afghanistan until the President of the United States certifies a full evacuation. The President of the United States would be required to submit to Congress that all United States citizens, legal permanent residents, coalition partners, and Afghan allies who would like to leave Afghanistan have been evacuated.
