Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) today hosted a Virtual Grant Symposium to connect local officials with federal government agencies to learn how to apply for, receive, and implement federal grants for projects in Southern West Virginia. In attendance were representatives from the U.S. Department of Justice, FEMA, U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, as well as 70Mayors, City Managers, County Commissioners, County Emergency Management Directors, Fire Chiefs, Police Chiefs, Sheriffs, and Regional Planning and Development Council Directors. The focus of the symposium was public safety, infrastructure, and small cities and communities. "In the past two years, West Virginia has received nearly $770 million in federal funding for COVID-19 response, roadways, schools, health care centers, economic development, small businesses, low-income housing, and research and education projects," said Congresswoman Miller. "As we continue our effort to revitalize our region, it is my goal to increase that number and give our local officials the information they need to utilize the federal government. Together we are committed to making sure West Virginia remains an incredible place to live, work, and raise a family."
