AGOA is key to lifting the world’s most dire populations out of poverty while combatting China’s growing influence in Africa. [African] nations are great partners for sourcing products that may be best produced in friendly countries, such as apparel and travel goods, which in turn supports American consumers and jobs by ensuring the lowest prices across the supply chain. However, China is actively spreading their influence across the continent. We run the risk of losing ground to them if we don’t actively engage and build stronger partnerships with friendly African nations.
