The report stated, “Gotion promises 2,350 new direct jobs. The average hourly wage is $24.50.” For a 40-hour work week that comes out $980 before taxes, or $50,960 over 52 weeks. However, in April, the Detroit News reported that “Gotion has said in its application for a property tax exemption, it expects an annual average wage at the facility of $61,995.” Today’s announced annual average wage is over $10,000 less than what Gotion promised on its application to receive tax relief. “Today’s news shows that Gotion misled state and local leaders on legal documents about how much it would pay Michigan workers.
