This legislation delivers a 2.8% cost-of-living increase for veterans receiving disability benefits, ensuring their payments keep pace with rising costs. Rep. Morrison is a proud cosponsor of the bipartisan bill, and is calling on her colleagues on both sides of the aisle to support its passage. “Affordability is a top concern for all of my constituents, including the veterans in my community,” said Congresswoman Kelly Morrison. “This adjustment is necessary to help ensure that our veterans and their families can keep pace with the cost of living.” Congresswoman Morrison is Minnesota’s only member of the Minnesota Congressional Delegation to sit on the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, is committed to ensuring our state’s nearly 300,000 veterans have the care and support they have earned and deserve. I rise in support of S. 2392, the Veterans Compensation Cost of Living Act. This bipartisan legislation would provide 2.8 percent cost of living for VA disability benefits like disability compensation in clothing allowance as well as survivor benefits such as dependency and indemnity compensation. Veterans and their families are entitled to and are owed these benefits and it is our responsibility in Congress to ensure that they continue to provide the utility and financial stability they deserve. Affordability is a top concern for all of my constituents, including the veterans in my community. This adjustment is necessary to help ensure that our veterans and their families can keep pace with the cost of living. As a cosponsor of this legislation and a member of the Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs Subcommittee, I’m pleased that we are able to come together on a bipartisan basis to pass this bill that will do just that. I want to end by thanking the gentlemen from Texas, Mr. Lutrell, and Kentucky, Mr. McGarvey, for their leadership on this important bill.
