At a moment when standing together has never been more important, the bill chose division: it put the interests of the wealthy and well-connected ahead of everyday Americans, rescinding IRS funding and increasing the deficit, and it denied humanitarian assistance to vulnerable populations around the world, including Palestinian civilians.” On October 7th, Rep. Neguse issued a statement condemning the horrific assault against Israel by Hamas terrorists. On October 20th, Congressman Neguse joined a letter, led by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, to President Biden noting the administration’s “clear statements regarding the fundamental importance of ensuring that the humanitarian needs of the civilian population of Gaza are met, and that all possible steps are being taken to ensure the safety of civilians and noncombatants in the Strip.” The letter stated further, “we support the efforts that Secretary Blinken and your entire administration are making to ensure that the basic necessities of life for Gaza’s civilians are available, such as food, water, and medicine. In addition, we must enable those civilians and noncombatants who want to seek refuge temporarily in safe zones in southern Gaza to be given safe passage, and to ensure that they have the ability to return to their communities in Gaza when the war is over.” Congressman Neguse supports the Biden administration’s efforts to secure delivery of humanitarian aid to the civilian population of Gaza, including humanitarian pauses to enable the delivery of humanitarian assistance, the release of all hostages, and the safe passage of Americans and foreign nationals.
