Dan Newhouse (R-WA) with its biennial Guardian of Small Business Award for his outstanding support of America’s small business owners in the 114th Congress.  “As a farmer and small business owner myself, I understand the challenges that come with running small businesses,” said Rep. Newhouse. “Small businesses are the engine of our economy and have created more than half of all new jobs. For Central Washington to thrive, our small businesses need support. I am honored to be named a guardian of the men and women entrepreneurs who wake up every day to run their businesses.” “Many elected officials claim that they are champions of small business, but our Guardian Award shows our members and other small business owners who is really fighting for them,” said NFIB President and CEO Juanita Duggan. “Based on his voting record, Rep. Newhouse is one of the most reliable advocates for small business in Washington.” The Guardian of Small Business is NFIB’s most prestigious award.  It is reserved for lawmakers who vote consistently with NFIB on the key issues identified by small business owners.  NFIB tracks the votes of every member of Congress. House members and Senators who vote with NFIB members at least 70 percent of the time are eligible for the Guardian Award.    Newhouse received a 100 voting record during the 114th Congress. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
