The resolution designates Sept. 18-24, 2022, as Gold Star Families Remembrance Week. “Our servicemembers and their families have sacrificed so much for our country. We not only owe our fallen military heroes an enormous debt, but we owe their families whom they left behind. On this Gold Star Spouses Day, we honor the surviving families by recognizing their great sacrifices,” said Rep. Newhouse. “We cannot begin to fathom the loss and pain these families have experienced. Background: The Gold Star Families Remembrance Week Resolution recognizes the loss and sacrifices of families in support of a fallen member of the Armed Forces, as well as veterans. It encourages Americans to perform acts of community service and goodwill to honor these families.
