Dan Newhouse (R-WA) with its 114th Congress “Tax Fighter Award.” “I am honored to receive this award for fighting on behalf of taxpayers in Central Washington,” said Rep. Newhouse. “My first act in Congress was to put my support behind the Balanced Budget Amendment and the Tax Code Termination Act. I will continue to work in Congress to rein in fiscal irresponsibility, simplify the tax code, and cut wasteful spending by the federal government.” NTLC President Lewis K. Uhler presented the award to Rep. Newhouse in Washington, D.C., saying, “Representative Newhouse’s votes on tax and spending issues in the 114th Congress earned him an ‘A’ grade and the Tax Fighter Award. “Representative Newhouse has been a leader in the battle on behalf of taxpayers to kill the hated death tax, reduce tax rates and the complexity of the tax code, to provide incentives for private savings, investment and job creation, to control the growth of federal spending and to force Congress to act on major, economic growth-inducing tax reform. “Representative Newhouse has been a major asset to taxpayers all across America during his congressional service. He has had the courage to challenge the orthodoxy of Washington special interests. His leadership is vital to America’s future,” concluded Uhler. Since 1975, the National Tax Limitation Committee, a 501(c)(4) grassroots taxpayer activist organization, has worked to limit taxes and spending and to reduce the size and scope of government at all levels. NTLC has led the national movement for constitutional tax and spending limits at the state and federal levels. NTLC publishes a congressional scorecard at the conclusion of each Congress, as it has for more than a quarter-century. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
