Dan Newhouse (WA-04) released the following statement upon committee passage of the Fiscal Year 2026 Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Act. "House Appropriations is back at work to ensure we are being good stewards of taxpayer dollars, and this legislation focuses on strengthening the institutions those taxpayers rely on. We prioritized provisions that protect Americans’ financial privacy and support American businesses by implementing new ‘Buy American’ policies for resources purchased by the federal government," said Rep. Newhouse. Newhouse continues, "With the recent announcement of the Secretary of Agriculture being added to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), I am glad to see this legislation fully fund CFIUS and their newest mission to keep the CCP out of the market for American farmland." The Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Act provides a total discretionary allocation of $23.341 billion, which is approximately $410 million below the Fiscal Year 2025 allocation and a 7.9 percent reduction from the Fiscal Year 2025 enacted discretionary appropriation. The bill restores fiscal discipline and common sense to the federal government. The measure upholds the rights of American citizens, strengthens national security, and harnesses technology to make the federal government work smarter, faster, and more efficiently for the American people. See bill text before adoption of amendments here. ### 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-07T15:07:37Z
